Fully mature, yet still showing solid mid-palate density and sweet fruit, the 2003 Les Cailloux Chateauneuf du Pape offers up a melange of sweet fig, kirsch, roasted herbs, and licorice aromas and flavors to go with a full-bodied, voluptuous, yet completely integrated and supple mouth feel. Fairly evolved, with some bricking at the edges, it, nevertheless, held up beautifully over the evening and gained richness and depth with air. Drinking at what I would call point, it should continue to evolve gracefully for a number of years to come.
