Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vintage 1997
The AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the most beautiful in the Rhone Valley. It is famous for its red wines but also offers very nice white wines. Quality has no price! This is why on each vintage all the grape varieties planted in our plots allow us to best express the terroir that is ours.
As soon as the vineyard had broken open, it was about one week ahead of 1996. The sunshine and the Mistral of July allowed an excellent ripening of the grapes. Nevertheless, at the beginning of September from one terroir to another the states of maturity showed a certain heterogeneity, leaving to each the care to begin the harvest according to the characteristics of his domain (exhibition, encépagement...)
Generally, early grape varieties were harvested from September 8 and grenaches from September 15 onwards.
Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc 1997: Elegance and exoticism: On the olfactory level 97 whites are characterized by a multiplicity of aromas: apricot, pineapple, mango. The palate is good, full of roundness and balance. We find exotic fruit flavors. The finish is nervous and therefore bodes well for the future. To marry with goat shapes (peckers, peckers...)
Châteauneuf du Pape rouge 1997: Balanced and gourmet: Notes of kirsch, blackberry jam and dried prunes give the 97 reds an aromatic complexity that does not detract from their elegance. In the mouth, small-grained tannins are very present and already well melted. Full of roundness, these bold and ample wines are already very balanced. Those who will have the chance to taste them in their early youth will delight in them. Others will be able to acquire them for the next millennium.
