Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vintage 1992
The AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a jewel of the Rhone Valley. It is known for its magnificent red and white wines. We have the right in the appellation to use the 13 grape varieties. At Domaine André Brunel the Domaine grenache but it is accompanied by syrah, mourvèdre and cinsault. Let us tell you about the 1992 harvest:
The vegetative cycle of 1992 was influenced by a rather contrasting climatology. The winter season until the end of April was marked by a dry climate with mild temperatures. This facilitated a quick departure of the vegetation.
This advance was then mitigated by higher than normal precipitation in May and June. However, the latter did not disturb the flowering that took place in good conditions from May 20 to June 10 without excessive dripping.
From 10 July until the end of August the water potential linked to very high temperatures allowed a regular ripening of the grapes.
The veraison lasted from August 1 to 15.
The harvest began around 10 September for early grape varieties, and around 16 September for grenache.
Despite a severe storm on September 22, the harvest was returned in good conditions. Volumes are lower than expected and are on average around 31-32 hls/ha.
The fermentations took place without any particular problems.
The white wines are presented under the best auspices, with very pronounced citrus aromas. It will certainly be one of the most aromatic vintages of recent years.
The reds present beautiful frank colors, clear aromas, and fresh red fruits without excessive maturity, in the mouth a structure clearly superior to 1991 but less concentration than in 1990 and 1989.
The vintage is similar to 1988 by its texture with fine and elegant tannins and a nice length.
