This plot is perfect for growing white grape varieties. Clay earth on calcareous subsoil, sitting on a hillside where it happily soaks in the rising sun and is protected from the setting sun by a pine forest.

Cuvée : white Côtes du Rhône La Bécassonne

Located to the east of the village, this large plot (just under 3 hectares) is currently full of vines which were recently planted in 2011 and will, in future years, be an important element of the Les Cailloux cuvée. 
A very stony area with mostly red clay, sand and fine gravel resulting in later maturity in this sector compared to other appellation areas.

This plot of land was replanted in 1889 after the phylloxera and is the most ancient of this plain and one of the oldest of the appellation.  Here, the soil and subsoil don’t contain much limestone but clay is predominant on both the surface where it blends along with pebbles, and deep into the soil where this dense and blue clay gives the vines their minerality (graphite).  Its exposure gives optimum sunshine for the vines, and the terribly windy Mistral contributes to the grapes’ concentration in sugar and aromas, used to make the infamous “Cuvée Centenaire” in the great vintage years.

Located to the east of the appellation area, these plots with red-ochre clay soil covered by pebbles on chalky subsoil, are ideal to produce wines of great finesse.

Cuvées: Châteauneuf-du-Pape (white and red), Les Cailloux

Located to the south of the appellation area, these plots have clay and sand soil covered with round pebbles on a more-gravel than limestone subsoil, allowing for a quick reheating of the ground and therefore giving a certain early maturity for harvest.

Cuvées: Châteauneuf-du-Pape (white) Les Cailloux.

A large single plot located on the Uchaux road which boasts optimum sunshine allowing the various grape varieties to ripen under the best conditions. Clay and limestone surface soils are on top of gravel subsoil, beneficial for draining and drying after the rain.
A well-managed ground cover partly reduces the thriving of Grenache vines, making reduced yields for perfect ripeness and well-balanced wines.

Cuvée: Côtes du Rhône (red) Sommelongue and Vins de Pays Grenache

This plot is located south-east of the appellation. Its 3 hectares are covered partly by round pebbles which hide deep brown and red clay subsoil. The Grenache and Mourvèdres vines are over 60 years old and produce small grapes boasting a very pronounced aroma of slightly jammy black fruits.

Cuvée : Châteauneuf-du-Pape (red) Les Caillou

This land is located in the Gard and includes various plots of different-ages vines (from 25 to 50 years old), planted with different grape varieties except for Mourvèdre.
Their common factor is the sand soil (red ferruginous soil) on a clay limestone underground, allowing both for a decent permeation of rain water and low sensitivity level to dry weather.
