The veraison festival
A festival since 1985
It takes places during the first weekend of August and lasts for 3 days in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This festival is the opportunity to organize celebrations to honor the future harvest as well as the traditions, gastronomy and the wine of the Rhône valley.
A festival that evoke the medieval times
Everything is organized around the wine land and the old medieval traditions of the region.
- From an œnological point of view, this celebration of the veraison gives winegrowers like André Brunel’s estate, the opportunity to present their cuvées and their know-how on various stands, to organize tastings or provide information about the estate, the grapes, the technics used in the Rhône valley.
- From the medieval point of view, diner-shows or shows are organized during the day, there are also entertainments dated Middle Ages period such as dances, tournaments, historical medieval daily life events, in order to allow young and old know better this period which is often judged with fantasies and clichés far from reality. Taverns, minstrels, troubadours and jugglers stroll around the city and the castle all weekend.
