Brunel has produced one of the finest 1994 Chateauneuf du Papes, a full-bodied, impressively textured and concentrated wine that is not far off the mark of his great 1989 and 1990. The 1994 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, a wonderful Provencal nose of seaweed, black olives, and copious quantities of black and red cherries and raspberries. Full-bodied, with a soft, silky texture, and outstanding purity, this is a long, well-balanced, harmonious wine to drink over the next 10-12 years. This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996. One of Chateauneuf du Pape's most intelligent and forward-thinking owners/winemakers is Andre Brunel, the proprietor of Les Cailloux. With each vintage he continues to refine his skills.
