Although recognizably in decline, the Brunels' 1989 Chateauneuf du Pape remains a delight to drink. It's bricking in hue, with dusty aromas and scents of dried cherries, but it's still full-bodied and creamy in texture, with delicate notes of black tea, potpourri and licorice on the expansive finish.
